Asia Institute of Urban Environment (AIUE) “Distinguished Service Award”
1. Background and Purpose
The Asia Institute of Urban Environment (AIUE) has established the Distinguished Service Award to recognize individuals or organizations that have made outstanding and long-term contributions to urban environmental development, academic activities, community engagement, and international cooperation. The award aims to acknowledge distinguished achievements that have significantly advanced urban environmental research, practice, and the mission of AIUE across Asia.
2. Objectives of the Distinguished Service Award
- To recognize distinguished contributions to urban environmental research, education, policy development, and community activities;
- To honor individuals and organizations whose efforts have significantly contributed to the development and activities of AIUE;
- To encourage continued dedication and leadership in improving urban environments and promoting sustainable development;
- To promote cooperation and knowledge exchange among researchers, practitioners, institutions, and communities.
3. Recommendation and Review Process
Recommendation Source: In principle, nominations shall be submitted by AIUE board members, executive members, or related organizations.
Submission Materials: Nominee information, a summary of achievements, supporting documents, and a recommendation statement within 500 words shall be submitted.
Preliminary Review: The AIUE Secretariat will conduct an initial review of eligibility and submitted materials.
Expert Review: The Review Committee will evaluate the nominee based on established criteria.
Final Approval: The final decision shall be approved by the AIUE Review Committee.
Award Ceremony: Recipients will be recognized at the annual meeting or international conference organized by AIUE.
4. Evaluation Criteria
Contribution to Society and Community Development:
Has the nominee made concrete and sustained contributions to local communities, urban development, or environmental improvement activities?
Policy and Institutional Impact:
Has the nominee contributed to the formulation, implementation, or advancement of policies, strategies, or institutional frameworks related to urban environment and sustainability?
Academic and Professional Contribution:
Has the nominee significantly contributed to research, education, academic exchange, or the development of AIUE and related activities?
Leadership and Long-term Commitment:
Has the nominee demonstrated leadership and sustained dedication in promoting urban environmental initiatives over an extended period?
Social Recognition and Influence:
Has the nominee gained broad recognition and produced substantial influence among academic communities, professional organizations, governments, or society?
5. Award Details
- A certificate of commendation will be issued;
- Featured introduction on the official AIUE website and publications;
- Recognition at the annual meeting or international conference;
- A monetary prize or commemorative medal may be awarded depending on available resources.
